Society of Safety Engineering (CSSE)
In 1949, the CSSE was started
by a group of individuals engaged in accident prevention work. It grew from being
a provincially-based organization to a national one and is now Canada's largest
and most established professional organizations for health and safety practitioners.
There are over 1700 members across Canada, the United States and abroad. It is
the mission of the CSSE to be the premier organization for health, safety and
loss prevention specialists. |

of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals
The Board of Canadian Registered
Safety Professionals (formerly the Association for Canadian Registered Safety
Professionals) is a not-for-profit association with a membership dedicated to
the principles of health and safety as a profession in Canada. To protect and
promote occupational health and safety and environmental safety public safety
through the registration of qualified health and safety professionals committed
to a Code of Ethics. |

The
Emergency Preparedness Information eXchange is operated by the Telematics Research
Lab in collaboration with the Centre for Policy Research on Science and Technology
and PolyLAB. All three programs are part of the School of Communication at Simon
Fraser University, Vancouver, Canada. |

was established in 1984. We have approximately 150 active members. There are four

Workers'
Compensation Board of BC (WCB)
The Workers' Compensation Board
of B.C. is dedicated to promoting workplace health and safety for the workers
and employers of this province. We consult with and educate employers and workers
and monitor compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation. In
the event of work-related injuries or diseases, the WCB works with the affected
parties to provide return-to-work rehabilitation, compensation, health care benefits,
and a range of other services. |

Applied
Science Technologists and Technicians of BC (ASTTBC)
Incorporated under the Applied
Science Technologists and Technicians Act (ASTT Act) in 1985. Established in 1958
by technicians and technologists in the fields of engineering and architecture,
ASTTBC has expanded to sixteen disciplines and eight special certifications in
the broad field of applied science technology. To maintain, improve and increase
the knowledge, ability and competence of technologists and technicians; to regulate
the standards of training and practice of, and for, its members, and to protect
the interests of the public. |
